The Society makes an award every two years to the new building or project which has contributed most to enhancing the town. The Award was established in memory of the late Frank Marshall who made an immense contribution to the Society and to promoting conservation and improvement of the town.
This year's winner was the Lime Tree Workshop in Lime Tree Walk about which the judges said:
"An excellent project which has saved a locally listed building which had been under threat of demolition. A building which is part of the history and architectural heritage of Sevenoaks Town and makes a strong contribution to the Conservation Area and to the setting of the listed buildings in Lime Tree Walk. It is an essentially sustainable project making use of an existing building. It helps in promoting pride of place and in supporting community enterprise. It also provides a catalyst for stakeholders to improve the area around it to create complementary attractive urban spaces."
The judges also recognised the redevelopment of 2 Locks Yard by awarding it a commendation in the following terms:
"A brave scheme of a kind which should be encouraged, using innovation and creativity on a difficult site to maximise residential development in a sustainable location."
