The Society has submitted its response to Sevenoaks District Council's Regulation 19 consultation on the draft Local Plan, which will guide development in the District up to 2042.
A central concern is the proposed provision of 17,460 new homes by 2042. The Society has found little evidence that the construction industry has the capacity or commercial incentive to deliver development on this scale, or that the necessary infrastructure will be available when it is needed. In particular, there are significant questions over investment in roads, bus services and water supply.
The Society's most substantial planning concern relates to the way in which the proposed release of Green Belt land around Sevenoaks has been determined. This issue is explored in the adjacent article on this website where you can also read the advice received from planning counsel.
