Sevenoaks Heritage Exhibition

The Sevenoaks Society Heritage Exhibition, June/July 2019

The Heritage Exhibition will be a major event for the Society in 2019. It opens on the morning of Wednesday 19th June and closes on Saturday 6th July. Entry is free. Running throughout the 50th Sevenoaks Summer Festival, it takes place in the Kaleidoscope Gallery at the Sevenoaks Library in Buckhurst Lane.

chequers innThe Exhibition will be a highly visual display of photographs and other artwork which will tell the history of Sevenoaks through the medium of its heritage buildings, artefacts and open spaces such as Vine cricket ground. Since we intend that the Exhibition should be very much a community event, there will be activities for schoolchildren and older people. We will also be publishing an accompanying book which will expand the information on the display Panels.

These cover Knole and the Historic Town Centre; the Old Landed Estates, Farms, Public Houses and Industry; the Town’s Victorian Expansion following the arrival of the railway; and 20th Century Developments. A couple of images from the Exhibition are displayed here.

Further information on the Exhibition and its associated events, and how to obtain the book, will be posted on the website as well as in the Society’s magazine. Look out also for our publicity flyers and postcards. We hope everyone will come and enjoy this fascinating and informative Exhibition which has something for all, young or old.
