Description:

Solid Victorian red brick and stone building on three floors under slate roof.

Ground floor elegant double bay shop front with centre door set back and with opening to rear on LHS. Finely moulded timber framed windows, low stall risers and narrow cast iron ventilation grilles over windows. Shop front enclosed by bold pilasters, base and lower part granite, white concrete above with composite capital and scroll supporting moulded entablature enclosing deep outward splayed fascia lit by small spots. First floor two bay windows each with four equal lights, square fanlights over, white timber framed in moulded stone surrounds, Doric style pilasters at ends and corners. Three stone string courses in brick façade.

First floor red brick with plain stone dressings to two windows, LHS two light sash above carved stone panels, RHS three light sash bay windows over and matching first floor and above carved stone panels, centre dated 1899. Roof plain slate with brick parapets under stone copings with brick piers at each end of façade each capped with stone coping and globes.

Comment:

Building of great robust character, interesting detail though probable not listable.
