TOWN SURVEY UPDATE 2010 UPPER HIGH STREET EAST Building: No26 Listing: Grade II, LBS number 172186 History: Private house with two projecting shop fronts replacing the front garden in the mid C19. Prints of the 1840s show it with garden. Photographs of the 1870s show the shop fronts, with Malvern Coiffure on the fascia of the left-hand shop. In 1908 one of these held the Needlework Repository and later they were occupied by a balloon shop and a pet store. In the 1960s they were Mackley Hair and County Cameras.

Description: Late C18 brick elevation with parapet band.Two storeys with three sash windows on first floor. Ridge-tile roof with three flat-roofed dormers. Ground floor with centre glazed and panelled door in fluted pilastered doorcase up five steps obscured on either side by projecting one-storey shop fronts.
